There are many considerations that affect how I decide to ride in one path instead of another. In this short post, I talk bout the desirability of exclusivity (禁行車輛), fragrance (香), and beautiful scenery (風景美麗). I hope to follow up with other elements that make bike paths great, such as conveniences and safety.
In the following, underneath each picture (along a bike path) is a link that shows the picture's location with a Google map.
- First, the exclusivity, that the path is exclusively for bikers and walkers; cars are not allowed (車輛禁行). 在這樣的自行車道上, 我們不用分神注意車子. 放鬆的心情 makes for a much happier experience and makes the ride so much more enjoyable. I give two examples here: Rose Creek Bike Path and Mission Bay Park Walkway.
- Fragrance (香) is big deal for me. I love the smell of wild flowers, grasses, and eucalyptus trees. I often find myself long for the fragrance of a bike path and go back for more, as if the bike path is calling me. Two examples here:

- Beautiful scenery (好風景). I show a few of my favorite vista points below.
What you see here is a trail next to San Diego Bay in the vicinity of Shelter Island.
